Even though his response was a tranquil one, they never heeded him, they continued their disbelief in his call. When they saw how adamant he was, the first thing they deed was not listening to him anymore, close their eyes whenever they saw him and act as deaf when he speaks.
“And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance.
-Sura Nuh, Ayah 7
And this was the case, yet he never stopped and never relented in his effort calling them. And this was for a very long time.
“and he tarried among them a thousand years less fifty,”
-Sura Al-Ankabut, Ayah 14
He warned them of God’s wrath of this life and after, he enjoyed them to obey him, and reminded them of God’s promise to them of wealth, progeny, harvest and a lot. He preached the oneness of Allah and the importance of worshipping Him.
They never benefited from it, rather, they were strong and firm on their misguidance and warned him to stop calling them to Islam.
They said: “O Noah! thou hast disputed with us, and (much) hast thou prolonged the dispute with us: now bring upon us what thou threatenest us with, if thou speakest the truth!?”
-Sura Hud, Ayah 32
They will a times tell him to show them the punishment he has been saying to proof his truth thinking he was lying. They abused him, molested him and his acolytes. They go as far as beat him a times to the point of death, they will wrap him up and throw him away after he has passed out, to their surprise, he will wake up again and start the same mission he was almost killed for. And this was how they lived, generation after generation, and they will say, he was with our fathers this same way, “he is a mad man”. And the last generation was the worst of all.
It was then Nuh called upon his Lord, complaining the problem of his people, it was then Allah told him, they will not believe again.
It was revealed to Noah: “None of thy people will believe except those who have believed already! So grieve no longer over their (evil) deeds.
-Sura Hud, Ayah 36
A sensible and ideological person will ask, for this long, how could only a few surrender to his call? Some will take the sum of the believers in his message to the pit and say 7 while some will set it to the peak and say 80. All I know is that Allah said…..
” but only a few believed with him.”
-Sura Hud, Ayah 40
Now that Nuh is complaining, and is tired of the problem they are giving him. He faced his Lord and demanded a request. What did he demand, what was the price to pay, what is going to happen? This is what we shall be discussing once and for all tomorrow insha Allah. Ma’ Salam.
