Today’s the first Friday in Ramadhan, I am sure you won’t take the practices and Ibadah of today with levity and I pray Allah accept from us all.
When I hear Friday, something rings in brain, it is the name of the best man who ever lived. The light, the guide of all lives, the essence of beauty, the lover of all soul, Muhammad, Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.
Like any other day, Friday is a day, but special. The prophet said: it is the best day of the week which sun shines in it. He was not talking about the sun, it is just a literary beauty, he only meant to say, Friday is the best day of the week.
After your Jumah, and in the month of Ramadhan, what do you think you should be doing? Pray for yourself, your family and friends and the Muslim Ummah at large, your country and the world at large. Never forget that time of Friday before Maghrib. It is not a time to press your phone if not reading Qur’an on it. It is a time to pray and pray and …. Pray.
Before I forget, O Allah: I have a wish, please grant President Muhammad Buhari a resounding health and make our Nigeria healthy too. What do you wish for today?
Most of all, you should never forget chanting most beautiful Salam and the purest Salawat on the soul of your beloved. I try do that a lot, even though I can’t see his face, I know his presence is always around me. His name is on my mind, everyday day of my life.
Salam is known, but do you know Salawat? Salat in this context is not the five daily prayers. It is seeking the bounties of Allah upon our lustrous Muhammad. The companions went to the prophet and asked, how do we do Salat for you and he taught them Salat Ibraheemiyyah. Hope you know that.
I believe you know that. You can at least be saying, Sallallahu alayhi wasallam or any other short one you know. Neglect all bida’h in this month at least, the inheritance of the Rasul is enough for our lives.
Stick to his sunnah, don’t propagate what’s not in the deen. The days are counting, don’t waste your time in thinking about how to exploit people. Mind you, you are in Ramadhan…. Don’t make yourself an unfortunate one. The prophet said: ‘he is an unfortunate being, he that Ramadhan meets and is not forgiven in it’. I say, if you won’t be forgiven, at least, don’t commit another sin.
Pray and never stop praying, remember others in your prayers too; the sick, the poor, the barrens, the needy, the travelers, those at home, those in diaspora, those lost friends and forgive yourselves.
And because it is a beautiful Friday here, I have a gift for those who don’t know Salat Ibrahimiyya, it is the best of Salawat, the prophet taught the companions himself. Say:
‘Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad, wa’ala ‘ali Muhammad, kama sallayta ‘ala Ibraheem, wa ‘ala ‘āli Ibraheem…
Wa bārik ‘ala Muhammad, wa ‘ala ‘āli Muhammad, kama bārakta ‘ala Ibraheem, wa ‘ala āli ibraheem…
Fil ‘ālamina innaka hamidun majeed.
Note: you can add “Sayyidina” before the Muhammad and Ibraheem…. It is a sign of respect. Salawatu llahi alayhim ajma’in wa ‘Alaykum.
Are you nurturing a baby, are pregnant and not fasting, are you nurturing your period, are you an ulcer patient, are you giving fidyah, and you might be fasting though. Add this to your deeds, every time you brush, every time you walk and every time you breath, don’t stop to say….. Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.
